Did I pay too much?
Last night I won a one ounce Liberty Dollar silver round on Ebay. It's a year 2000 round with a $10.00 denomination on it. I paid $24.20 shipped. I know I just paid more than 7 bucks over spot for an ounce of silver but I've seen liberty dollar rounds go for a lot more before on Ebay. I wouldn't buy a sack full at that price, but I've wanted to own a liberty dollar round ever since I heard about them getting busted.

If you wanted it, then now you have it. I can't say I don't have a couple rounds that I liked the look of that I paid for than the silver content for. I'm sure almost anybody here who's been doing this for at least a couple of years can say the same thing.

I'm pretty sure it's a one ounce round. I'll check again when I get home this evening. I can't access Ebay from my work computer.

Re: Did I pay too much?
I just looked up some history on Liberty Dollar. The year 2000 $10.00 silver round was one ounce. Liberty Dollar only made silver rounds in the one ounce size from 1998 until 2003. They came out with other sizes starting in 2003. 2005 was the year that they first introduced a one half ounce silver round stamped with a $10.00 denomination. At least I bought an ounce of silver. I'm glad to learn that the Ron Paul rounds are the only ones that are really collectible. I won't be buying anymore for that much over spot, but I don't regret paying a bit too much for just one of them. I really wanted to own a Liberty Dollar round.

Re: Did I pay too much?
I'd say you did fine then. I think they are really nice looking rounds. I wish it was a real feasible alternative currency I would opt to accept them from my customers. I do disagree with new $50 move though. I see no reason it couldnt be a move to $30. A 1oz round with a $50 is just too confusing and unjustifiable IMHO.
